MAXSURF and Multiframe CONNECT Edition Version 23 update 4

Compatibility with Previous Versions

MAXSURF data files are forward and backward compatible between most versions of MAXSURF. Where backward compatibility has been broken, the option to export to earlier file formats is provided in the new version.

Directory Structure

The main application executable files, manuals etc. are installed in the root level of the folder selected for the installation. Folders containing sample models are also included.

Some additional files are installed under the “Public Documents” folder. These include the reporting templates and libraries used by MAXSURF.

Perspective view rotation centre auto update

A new feature has been added which allows the centre about which the view rotates in the perspective view to update automatically so that it is always approximately about the middle of the window. This means that when you are focused in on a part of the vessel near the bow, then when rotating, the vessel will rotate about a point which maintains the bow on the window. The rotation point is updated automatically by projecting a point in the middle of the window onto the vessel centerline plane. The projection direction used depends on the view orientation and is in the longitudinal, transverse or vertical direction, which ever is closest aligned with the current view direction.

To enable this automatic movement of the rotation centre use the command in the View menu (with the Perspective window active) or the Ctrl+0 (zero) shortcut.

CM2 Meshing library upgraded to v5.1

The meshing library which is used in MAXSURF and Multiframe has been upgraded to version 5.1. This has been found to be significantly faster in many applications and to provide nicer meshes in most cases. It will however produce different meshes than previous versions of MAXSURF even when using the same meshing parameters and constraints.
